TOYOTA GAZOO RACING
When it comes to motor sports, they don’t come tougher than the FIA World Rally Championship. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing know that securing every win means analysing driver, vehicle, weather and stage data quickly and effectively.
We’re helping GAZOO Racing ensure their whole team is finely tuned through data science. By developing a range of web-based analytical and data visualisation tools, we’ve enabled many aspects of the team’s performance to be optimised. This helps keep them at top of the leader board and helps us stay ahead in the race for innovation.
Intelligent, intuitive and as unique as the person driving. Using customer-led insights, we’re developing the next generation of in-car experiences that will continue to integrate the drivers physical and digital lives.
Through touch, speech and gestures the experience can be personalised effortlessly – from the style of the dials on display to the desired driving mode. And through self-learning, these systems will be constantly and seamlessly adapting to meet the individual needs of the driver.
This is the foundation on which we build strong commercial partnerships with our B2B and B2C customers. Alongside a rich portfolio of case studies, it allows us to leverage our data services, data science and product engineering all in one place.
Through easy-to-access API’s, assets and developer experiences, the richness of our Mobility Platform helps us unlock opportunities that will accelerate the growth of the mobility economy.
For most businesses, management of their mobility is a constant commercial concern. We’re helping streamline this process by making it more agile, allowing businesses to respond quickly to changes in their modes of mobility and the funding involved.
We’ve recently developed a platform to support SMEs that makes optimising fleet utilisation and managing the total cost of ownership as easy as possible. This included an app for their drivers that tracks their mileage, monitors the vehicle’s maintenance and encourages responsible driving behaviours.
CUSTOMER IN THE LOOP
We believe that an open approach to data is critical to changing people’s behaviour. Take our In The Loop solution that empowers a customer to develop a more energy efficient driving style.
This is achieved through telematics technology (GPS/car data), which gives real-time information on the energy used by the vehicle while driving (electric v fuel, MPG). Not only can the customer see a snapshot of their entire journey, they can even review specific sections to understand where they used high or low amounts of energy.
OPTIMISED DESIGN CAPABILITY
Understanding a user’s behaviour is key to our design approach. So, our multi-disciplined Design Team brings a rich array of skills and experience to every project – from end-user research to final product delivery.
Using a range of design methodologies and systems enables us to deliver at scale. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business also allows to embed fully validated, best practice into every product we create.
We’re always striving to enhance driver safety. This led us to deliver a cloud-based service that was realised by a dedicated team drawn from the wider Toyota Connected family. Developed for the global market, Safety Connect optimises the power of connectivity when a driver needs it most.
For example, it has a feature that instantly connects the driver to a response centre agent
in the event of an airbag deployment. The agent will attempt to speak to vehicle’s occupants and if required will notify the local emergency services.
